Small-Batch Baking in a Toaster Oven
Toaster ovens and small-batch baking are made for each other: a few cookies, one pan of brownies, a couple of muffins โ baked without heating up your whole kitchen.
Why It Works
A small batch fits the small space, bakes evenly on the middle rack, and means no leftovers going stale on the counter. Perfect for one or two people.
Pans to Use
- Quarter sheet pan, about 9 x 6 in (23 x 15 cm) โ 6โ8 cookies at a time.
- 8 x 8 in (20 x 20 cm) square โ a small batch of brownies or bars.
- Mini muffin or loaf pans โ muffins, quick breads, and mini cakes.
Small-Batch Tips
- Convection off for cookies and cakes so they bake gently and evenly.
- Use the middle rack and rotate the pan halfway โ toaster ovens have hot spots.
- Weigh dry ingredients in grams when you can; small batches are less forgiving of eyeballing.
- Start checking a couple minutes early โ small bakes finish fast.
